Redactor: “Refrigerator or washing machine with the highest energy efficiency class saves tens of Euros a year in electricity. Family house is also a huge appliance – according to the energy requirements classified from A to G. For a house with a floor area of 150 m2 was given A.”

P. MICHALKA, Institute of Civil Engineering and Architecture, Slovak Academy of Sciences: “Such house is required that its total energy demand has not exceeded 8,100 kilowatt hours per year. To classify for the energy efficiency class B, it cannot exceed 16,500 kilowatt hour per year and to classify for the energy efficiency class C, it cannot exceed 25,750 kilowatt hours per year. In financial terms, the energy efficiency A for this family house is circa €450. In case of the energy efficiency class B it is circa €860 and in case of the energy efficiency class C it is circa €1240. The overall difference between the energy efficiency class C and the energy efficiency class A can therefore be circa €790.”

Redactor: “For the family houses, energy efficiency class A is neither easy nor ordinary - with regard to higher input costs.”

D. PETRÁŠ, President of the Association for the Support for Reconstruction of Residential Buildings: “Such house has to have very well made insulation, which means building structures where the insulation thickness is at least 15 centimeters for this era. As a matter of fact, with increasing requirements and with the implementation of the directive regarding energy intensity of buildings in particular, the thickness of insulations will become greater up to 25 centimeters in 2020.

Nowadays, windows with triple glazing or inert gas glasses are being recommended. In like manner, this construction part has to be in equilibrium with the energy systems, where energy efficiency class A (the lowest energy consumption) are the buildings that use renewable energy sources. In our specific conditions, for family houses this means let’s say the combination of the heat pump for heating or cooling (if these houses have it) and solar collectors, which can provide preparation of hot water. In other words, you can have really constructionally well built family house, but it will never has energy efficiency class A, as long as it will have let’s say gas boiler, because that is not considered as a renewable energy source.”

Redactor: “Evaluation of a family house according to energy efficiency classes is based on minimum requirements for energy efficiency. The determining benchmark is the actual energy consumption of heating.”

A. OHRADZANSKÁ, Director of the Department of Construction, Ministry of Transport: “The energy efficiency class B ranges from 43 to 86 kilowatt hours per square meter per year.”

Redactor: “It is even more stringent for an ordinary apartment building.”

A. OHRADZANSKÁ: “It is a larger surface area if we consider that it is converted to square meters per year. Therefore, this requirement is more stringent in terms of energy demand and this value ranges from 28 to 53 kilowatt hours per square meter per year.”

Redactor: “The average household in Slovakia consumes approximately 60 percent of the energy for heating mainly with coal and natural gas. This should be avoided.”

D. PETRÁŠ: “The Danish Action Plan is based on the premise that in 2050, there will be no source of energy fueled by fossil fuels in Denmark.”

A. OHRADZANSKÁ: “In 2020, new building constructions should already be in lines with almost zero energy demand. This means that buildings will require very little energy or they will ensure their own energy. They will have installed technical equipment or renewable sources directly on the building (or in their proximity), so they will cover the energy demand for their operation from themselves or even fuel the public networks with the excess energy.”

Redactor: “Website of the Ministry of Transport – Reside economically, brings plenty of information on this subject. For example, it will depend both on the construction and the climatic conditions, whether our house will behave like a holey Emmental or as a low-energy appliance. In the same way, we believe that it also depends on whether we cease to run half-naked in overheated apartment.”
