Opening ceremony of the exhibition Jozef Murgaš ̶ WIRELESS WORLD and unveiling of a Murgaš model "Tone system"

Slávnostné otvorenie výstavy Jozefa MurgašaOn the occasion of the 110th anniversary of the official examination of Murgaš invention "Tone system" were held in Žilina and Tajov two events on Friday 20.11.2015, where we celebrated the life and work of one of the most important Slovak inventors - Jozef Murgaš.

At the Faculty of Electrical Engineering, University of Žilina was opened the exhibition Jozef Murgaš  ̶  WIRELESS WORLD, which was prepared under the auspices of the Ministry of Education, Science, Research and Sport of SR with the support of the Slovak Centre of Scientific and Technical Information of SR in cooperation with the Faculty of Electrical Engineering, University of Žilina. The initiator of the exhibition was Jozef Murgaš and J. G. Tajovského Club. Opening of the exhibition had historical importance, on 23rd November, 2015 we celebrate the 110th anniversary of the official examination of Murgaš invention "Tone system", which took place in Wilkes Barre, Pennsylvania, USA on 23rd November 1905. At the beginning, visitors of the exhibition heard a speech of prof. Ing. Milan Dado, the Dean of the Faculty of Electrical Engineering, University of Žilina and Ing. Ján Šebo, the president of Jozef Murgaš and J. G. Tajovského Club. Ján Šebo said: "Our common aim is to contribute to the education of students and the entire academic community. We believe that we will be successful and we will show you the history of the development of wireless communication since its creation at the turn of the 19th and 20th century, when began its intensive progress and we will bring you moments that meant a breakthrough in wireless communication." In conclusion, he invited all present people to visit native village of Jozef Murgaš - Tajov, where took place an opening of Jozef Murgaš Park, and at the same time, a model of "Murgaš antenna system" in smaller version was unveiled.

At the unveiling in Tajov also spoke the mayor of the village Tajov Ladislav Surovčík, a former lector of Museum of J. Murgaš Mgr. Anita Murgašová, a deputy of Jozef Murgaš and J. G. Tajovského Club and radio amateur PaedDr. Miroslav Horník, art historian PhDr., Vladimír Sklenka and Ján Šebo, who said: "We want the public to know and understand Murgaš as a great man of today's technological progress. Therefore, we are pleased that the village Tajov called a piece of native land to Jozef Murgaš Park". We are proud to be here today and to stand at a modest memory of Jozef Murgaš that marked huge progress for all humanity." Finally, Ladislav Surovčík thanked to all visitors for their participation and invited them to tour of the memorial house of Jozef Murgaš and also for the food prepared by the village for this occasion.

Jozef Murgaš, man of note in research, a pioneer of wireless telegraphy and wireless communication, our native, who brought amazing progress for our humanity. Murgaš is an important figure not only for the village Tajov, but worldwide. Therefore he deserves close attention and opening of  Jozef Murgaš Park is a welcomed achievement.
