Slovak students had successfully represented us at international competitions also this year

AMAVET is the Association for Youth, Science and Technology and it is a non-profit organization that supports 25 years of creative and talented young scientists, and it gives them the space and motivation for further self-realization. In November each year, at the Festival of Science and Technology are selected the best of the best from a number of clever students by a committee consisting of experts to represent our country at the world-class competitions.

We would like to introduce you the winners of last year's Festival of Science and Technology, who successfully represented Slovakia at

Intel ISEF competition (International Science and Engineering Fair) PITTSBURGH, PENNSYLVANIA, in May this year, which is the oldest and most prestigious competition of high school science projects in the world;
I-SWEEEP competition, the worldwide Olympiad of sustainable development in the energy, engineering and environmental in Houston, TEXAS, also in May this year.

Awards: He won third place in the category of system software and also received a special prize from the American Society for Optics and photonics.
Project: Computer Vision - mapping and orientation in 3D space

Lukáš Janošík
Student: Secondary Grammar School of Ľudovít Štúr, Ulica 1. mája č.170/2, Trenčín
Project: The cell response to changes in the amount of mitochondrial DNA in Yarrowia lipolytica

Martin Holický and Daniel Zvara in their categories gained an excellent third place. In addition, Daniel Zvara was awarded by the special prize SPIE of the International Association for Optics and Photonics. The jury was impressed by his project "Computer Vision - mapping and orientation in 3D space ". Our two Slovak graduates managed to score points in this scientific competition, which took place of more than 1,700 top secondary school students from 75 countries. Travel to Festival of Science and Technology at Intel ISEF had been supported by Foundation of Tatrabanka.

I-SWEEEP COMPETITION 2015

At the international Olympiad of projects I-SWEEEP – International Sustainable World (Energy, Engineering, Environment) in US Houston, our students competed on 07th – 11th May 2015. Sympathetic fourth place in the category Engineering gained students from Košice - Igor Žovtík and Michal Urban. They were awarded for constructing a moving robot named Robot Snail. In total, the Olympics joined approximately 600 young scientists from 67 countries of the world, who presented 427 projects in three main categories. Students of Secondary Vocational Automobile School in Kosice worked under the guidance of his teacher Juraj Mihaľ. To the USA, they had been qualified as winners of the Festival of Science and Technology 2014, which was held with the support of the Ministry of Education, Science, Research and Sport SR as one of events from the Science and Technology Week. Along with them, Dominik Juračka from Bratislava also represented Slovakia with his project Isolation and application of microorganisms able to degrade selected industrial contaminants from the environment.
